About Music Matters
Music Matters brings together the entire music community - from artists and retailers to songwriters, labels and managers - to talk about why music matters to them and to help you, as music fans, connect with the music you love both on the high street and online.
Launched in March 2010, Music Matters allows the music to speak for itself through a series of short animated films about inspirational artists who have dedicated their lives to music and contributed to our cultural landscape. In 2011, the Beatles added their voice to the campaign, joining Kate Bush, Elbow, JLS, Paloma Faith, Sigur Ros and many others in telling us why they love music and what it means to them.
You can also think of it as a one-stop shopping guide of valuable information for choosing where to get the music you love. You can use the Music Finder to track down the tracks or albums you’re looking for - and look out for the Music Matters badge. It means that those who were involved in making music are getting paid. After all, when creators can earn a return on their work, they have the means to continue making the music that matters to all of us.
